Oruwee Terms of Service
Effective Date: 6/29/2026
Welcome to Oruwee — a progressive platform designed for those who love online communities and want to help them thrive. Our goal is to become the best place for participation, collaboration, and community development.
We’re a small, independent project currently in Early Access (pre-alpha) until 9/7/2026. That means things are still evolving, and while we’re committed to building something thoughtful and resilient, there may be bugs, limitations, or unexpected behavior. Use at your own risk — and thank you for being an early part of our journey.
Everything on Oruwee is guided by our Manifesto, which acts like a constitution. It defines our values and priorities — and all strategies, policies, and rules are built on its foundation. You can read the full text of the Manifesto here.
Any changes to the Terms of Service will be posted on Oruwee hub.
What Makes Oruwee Different?
Freedom of Expression, with Boundaries
Oruwee was built to support a wide range of ideas, experiences, and communities — including those that may be controversial, unconventional, or niche. At the same time, we believe freedom should not come at the expense of others. Our Content Sensitivity System helps protect users from content they don’t want to see, without punishing those who want to share it.
Decentralized Community Power
Communities on Oruwee are called hubs. Each hub has its own rules, leadership, and content style. Owners and moderators are given broad freedom to shape their hub’s culture — and users can choose the hubs that suit them best.
Spaces With Purpose
Oruwee separates public and private spaces. Public spaces are visible on feeds and open to exploration. Private spaces — like invite-only hubs, restricted sections, and private dialogs — give people more privacy and freedom, while remaining subject to basic platform-wide rules.
How Hubs and Sections Work
A hub is a community space built around a shared interest or purpose. Hubs consist of one or more sections, which are the actual communication channels.
There are two types of sections:
Chats – Real-time message channels for short-form discussion. Messages can’t have a separate sensitivity level, but users can flag sensitive media (like images) if the hub's sensitivity is Edgy or Unfiltered.
Post System Sections – Designed for longer, more informative content. Authors can set a sensitivity level for each post (including one higher than the hub’s default, if hub rules allow) and mark media as sensitive. Other users can comment on posts.
Some post sections can also be marked as global, meaning their content may appear in the main feed and be visible to users who are not members of the hub. Hub owners should be cautious about who is allowed to post in global sections.
2. Using Oruwee
By using Oruwee, you agree to these Terms of Service and any additional policies published by the platform. We ask all users to approach the platform in good faith, treat others with respect, and use the tools provided responsibly.
Who Can Use Oruwee
You can use Oruwee if you:
- Are at least 12 years old (or meet the minimum age of digital consent in your region).
- Agree to follow these Terms and the platform’s core rules.
- Understand that this is an Early Access platform still in development and may contain issues or incomplete features.
- Accept that you are using the service at your own risk.
What You Can Do
Oruwee is designed to support a wide range of creative and social expression. For example, you can:
- Join or create hubs (communities).
- Create and comment on posts, or participate in chats.
- Customize your experience through content sensitivity settings.
- Build private spaces, assign user roles, or set custom rules within your own hub.
- Do other things that don’t violate the platform rules.
We want Oruwee to feel open, flexible, and empowering — not overly policed or bureaucratic. But we do have baseline standards for safety, responsibility, and mutual respect. Those are outlined later in these Terms.
3. The Content Sensitivity System
Oruwee is home to a wide range of topics and communities — from friendly conversations to intense debates, from creative expression to controversial content. To balance freedom of speech with user comfort, Oruwee uses a Content Sensitivity System that lets users control the types of content they see.
Sensitivity Levels
Each post or message is tagged with one of three sensitivity levels:
1. Standard
Appropriate for most audiences. Includes everyday topics, light humor, and typical discussion. May include mild language or abstract disagreements, but not content that most people would find shocking or aggressive.
2. Edgy
Content that may be controversial, harsh, emotionally intense, or provocative — but still within platform rules. Includes things like political rants, disturbing themes, dark humor, or explicit critique of ideology or philosophy.
3. Unfiltered
Content with very few restrictions. May include explicit, grotesque, violent, or sexual material — including nudity or erotic content — as long as it stays within the rules and is properly contained (see below).
How It Works for Users
Your Sensitivity Setting controls what appears in your feed.
You will not see content with a more intense sensitivity level than you’ve selected — except when:
- You are a member of the hub where content appears
- You manually visit the hub or open the post that contains it
Sensitive media content (images/videos) can be blurred for your protection.
You can choose whether to automatically blur such content in your personal settings.
How It Works for Authors
- Authors must mark their posts accurately based on the actual content.
- They may select a higher sensitivity level than their hub's default (e.g., post Edgy in an Standard hub).
- They may also mark media content as sensitive (e.g., violent or explicit imagery) in Edgy or Unfiltered hubs.
Note: Individual hub rules may override this flexibility — for example, a hub may forbid raising sensitivity above the hub default.
How It Works for Hubs
-
Each hub has a default sensitivity level: Standard, Edgy, or Unfiltered. This affects:
- The baseline for post tagging (authors can mark content at the hub’s level or higher)
- The minimum level of moderation expected from the hub owner
Hub owners may raise their hub’s sensitivity level at any time, but lowering it to a less intense level requires additional review or cooldown.
(This is to prevent abuse, baiting, or accidental exposure.)
- Hubs with a Standard or Edgy default cannot create NSFW spaces or allow explicit sexual material. Only hubs marked Unfiltered may do so — and only in private sections.
- If a hub’s moderation fails to meet the standards expected for its sensitivity level, Oruwee may automatically raise its level.
Global Feed Visibility
- Posts from global post sections may appear in the main feed for users who are not members of the hub — but only if the post’s sensitivity level matches or is less intense than the viewer’s selected sensitivity level.
- This system allows hubs with serious or controversial themes (e.g., edgy politics) to set a Standard sensitivity level and publish a mix of content — using Standard posts to attract broader audiences, while still producing Edgy content as their core focus.
- Hub owners should be cautious when granting posting access in global sections, as posts from these sections represent the community on the wider platform.
4. Public and Private Spaces
Oruwee supports a wide variety of social structures. To help users control visibility, access, and comfort, we distinguish between public and private spaces.
Types of Spaces
Public Hubs
Communities that anyone can find, visit, and join. Most global feed content comes from these hubs. Public hubs may contain both open and restricted sections.
Private Hubs
Invitation-only communities. These are not discoverable through search and do not appear in public feeds. Useful for niche interests, sensitive topics, or closed groups.
Sections Within Hubs
Each hub contains one or more sections, which are communication channels. There are two types:
- Chats – Real-time message threads, similar to instant messengers.
- Users cannot choose message sensitivity, but may flag sensitive media content (e.g., disturbing or explicit images/videos) if the hub’s sensitivity level is Edgy or Unfiltered.
- Post System Sections – Forums where authors create posts that others can comment on.
- Authors can select a higher sensitivity level than the hub’s default.
- They may also mark their posts as containing sensitive media.
- These sections are better for more in-depth, informative, or structured content.
Any Post System Section may be marked as Global, meaning its posts may appear in the main page feed, even to users who are not members of the hub. Hub owners should only grant access to Global sections with caution.
Private Sections
Specific sections inside a hub that are only accessible to users with certain roles. These roles are assigned by the hub owner or moderators and may be based on trust, interest, or activity.
Dialogs
Private, one-on-one conversations between users. These exist outside of hubs and are never part of the public feed.
Content in Private Spaces
Private hubs, private sections, and dialogs give users more freedom to share content that might not be appropriate or welcomed in public feeds — including Unfiltered material.
However:
- All content in private spaces is still subject to platform-wide rules (e.g., no illegal content, harassment, or serious harm).
Consensual sharing is key:
In dialogs, users are expected to only share sensitive content if all participants agree and are comfortable.
- Hub owners are responsible for moderating private spaces under their control.
Role-Based Access
Hub owners can create custom roles to control who can access private sections, post in specific areas, or moderate content.
Roles can be used for:
- Assigning trusted users to moderate content, manage sections, or lead discussions
- Access control (e.g., only veterans can see a certain section)
- Interest filtering (e.g., unlock extra content for users interested in a subtopic)
- Reputation systems, event access, trust networks, and more
The role system is flexible and encourages hub creators to build the community structure that works best for them.
5. Moderation and Reporting
Oruwee supports a decentralized moderation model that empowers community leaders while still offering platform-level safeguards.
Hub Owner Responsibilities
Each hub is moderated by its owner and any trusted moderators they appoint. They are responsible for:
- Enforcing their own hub rules (as long as they comply with platform-wide policies)
- Managing user behavior and resolving disputes within their hub
- Monitoring content in both public and private sections of their hub
Depending on the sensitivity level of the hub, moderation expectations vary:
- Standard hubs must maintain a safe and broadly accessible environment
- Edgy hubs allow for controversial or intense content, but still require moderation against abuse or harassment
- Unfiltered hubs may host mature or explicit content, but must still protect users from harm and comply with platform-wide rules
If a hub owner consistently fails to meet basic moderation expectations, their hub’s sensitivity level may be raised by the platform.
Reporting System
Users can report:
- Posts, messages, media, or behavior they believe violate hub rules or platform-wide policies
- Inappropriate content shared within private spaces, including dialogs and restricted sections
- Abuse of roles or moderation power
Reports may be reviewed by hub moderators or escalated to the Oruwee team, depending on the context.
Privacy and Investigation
We respect user privacy — especially in private hubs and dialogs. However, when a report is made:
- Oruwee may investigate the relevant content or behavior
- Investigation is triggered by user reports, not by automated scanning or routine monitoring
- If a violation is confirmed, Oruwee may take appropriate action (see below)
Platform Enforcement Actions
If content or behavior violates platform-wide rules, Oruwee may:
- Remove posts, comments, or media
- Restrict or suspend user accounts
- Restrict a hub’s ability to post globally
- Adjust a hub’s sensitivity level
- Fully remove a hub in serious or repeated cases
Our goal is always to act proportionally, with clear reasoning and as little interference as possible.
Appealing an Action
If you believe an enforcement decision was made in error or unfairly — contact us through our official support channels.
We will review appeals carefully. While not all actions are reversible, we value constructive feedback and will acknowledge mistakes where they happen.
6. Platform-Wide Rules
Oruwee is committed to freedom of expression — but not at the cost of harm, abuse, or illegality. The following platform-wide rules apply everywhere on Oruwee, including public hubs, private hubs, restricted sections, and dialogs.
These rules exist to protect users, maintain the integrity of the platform, and ensure we can responsibly host global communities.
What’s Not Allowed — Anywhere
The following are strictly prohibited on Oruwee:
- Illegal content or activity, including but not limited to:
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM)
- Terrorist content or activity
- Promotion of violence against real individuals or groups
- Non-consensual sexual content (e.g., revenge porn, voyeurism)
- Harassment or abuse, including:
- Targeted hate, doxxing, or stalking
- Coordinated harassment or brigading
- Threats of violence or blackmail
- Non-consensual explicit content, including:
- Unwanted sharing of pornographic or violent material in spaces where users have not opted in
- Failing to respect boundaries in private conversations
- Malicious behavior, including:
- Spamming, scamming, phishing
- Distribution of malware or exploits
- Impersonation of others in a deceptive or harmful way
- Platform manipulation or sabotage, including:
- Mass-report abuse
- Exploiting bugs to harass or disrupt
- Intentionally evading moderation or bans
About Pornographic and Explicit Content
We support freedom of sexual expression, but we also believe in consensual access and responsible hosting.
- Explicit visual media, including pornography, is only allowed when both conditions are met:
- In hubs marked as Unfiltered
- And in private sections or private hubs, not in public global feeds
- Textual sexual content may appear in Edgy or Unfiltered spaces, depending on hub rules
Explicit content must be marked properly, and must not be sent unsolicited in messages or shown to users who have not opted into Unfiltered sensitivity.
7. Ownership & Intellectual Property
The Oruwee Project
Oruwee is an independent platform developed and operated by the Oruwee Project, an organization led by Anton Starostin. The project and its development efforts are coordinated by Anton Starostin and contributors acting under the collective title Oruwee Collective.
Platform Ownership
All original platform software, architecture, branding, and user interface elements — including the name Oruwee, associated logos, design elements, and the underlying systems and features that power the platform — are the intellectual property of the Oruwee Project.
Unless explicitly stated otherwise, all rights are reserved. You may not copy, distribute, modify, reverse engineer, or otherwise misuse any proprietary elements of the platform without prior written permission.
User Content
Users retain full ownership of the content they create and upload to Oruwee (e.g., posts, messages, media). By submitting content to the platform, you grant Oruwee a limited license to display and distribute it as intended within the platform’s systems and according to your privacy and sensitivity settings.
We do not claim ownership over user-generated content. However, we reserve the right to take moderation actions on any content that violates the Terms of Service, Community Guidelines, or applicable platform rules.
Use of the Oruwee Name
The name Oruwee and related brand elements may not be used for unrelated commercial or promotional purposes without permission. Community hubs and fan projects are welcome, but must clearly indicate they are unaffiliated unless explicitly authorized.
8. Final Terms & Disclaimers
We want Oruwee to be open, resilient, and welcoming — but also transparent about the current state of the platform and your responsibilities as a user.
